Overview

US termination without the usual surprises

US termination is priced differently from the UK, and that catches people out. Rates split by jurisdiction — interstate, intrastate and local — and the mix in your traffic decides your bill far more than any headline figure does. We quote against your own destination breakdown rather than against a front page.

Toll-free works the other way round from everything else. On 800, 833, 844, 855, 866, 877 and 888 numbers the called party pays, so inbound toll-free traffic earns rather than costs. If you run US inbound, say so when you ask for rates.

Everything else you already know from our UK side carries across unchanged: per-second billing from a topped-up balance, no monthly commitment, and trunks delivered as standard SIP into whatever softswitch or PBX you run.

What's included

What comes with a US trunk

The parts of US termination that decide whether your calls get answered.

STIR/SHAKEN attestation

Your calls are signed at A-level where you own the number, so carriers pass them through with the caller ID intact instead of stamping them Spam Likely.

Interstate and intrastate

Both jurisdictions on one trunk, rated correctly per call rather than billed at a blended rate that quietly favours us.

US DIDs by area code

Local numbers in any rate centre, plus toll-free ranges, delivered over the same SIP trunk.

CNAM on outbound

Your business name registered against your numbers, so US recipients see who is ringing rather than a bare number.

Toll-free inbound pays you

Traffic to your 8XX numbers is credited, not charged. Worth structuring properly if inbound is a large part of what you do.

Same account as UK

One balance, one portal, one rate sheet covering both sides of the Atlantic. Nothing separate to open.

FAQ

Questions about US routes

They are regulated separately in the US, and intrastate is usually the dearer of the two. A provider quoting one blended rate is averaging across a mix that may not be yours — ask for both figures and compare them against your own traffic.

Not if they are attested properly and the numbers are genuinely yours. We sign at A-level where you own the number, which is what carriers look for. Labelling also depends on your calling patterns: short-duration, high-volume outbound to people who do not answer gets flagged whatever the attestation says.

No. You do need to be able to show that the numbers you present as caller ID are yours to use, which is what attestation rests on.

Yes — one balance, one portal, one rate sheet. US destinations simply appear alongside the UK ones.
